Steile Futura halbfett (Medium) was released in 1952, followed by Kursiv, fett (1953), Kursiv fett (1954), and mager (Light, 1957) [Reichardt 2011]. Known as Bauer Topic in UK/US, Vox in Spain, and Zénith in France. Designed by Paul Renner, but not related to his Futura. The name was likely a marketing decision. Round-formed alternates (a la Futura Display) were available for ‘A E K M N W’.
Digitized as Steile Futura BQ (Berthold; Bold and Bold Italic; no longer available) and as URW Topic (URW; Medium and Bold, each with italics; used for sample). Tasse (Font Bureau; four weights in five widths) is a reinterpretation and expansion.
