In Lausanne, one of Switzerland’s oldest literary societies maintains its tradition of privacy and discretion. The Cercle Littéraire de Lausanne, founded in 1819, occupies an 18th-century building on Place Saint-François, the very spot where Benjamin Constant was born.

The designers Chris Gautschi and Dennis Moya Razafimandimby had the opportunity to design the visual identity of the Cercle. They teamed up to rethink the internal communication where they had carte blanche. They choose to revive an old monogram used as a stamp in several antique books from Lausanne. The symbol wasn’t in use anymore. It has been digitized and redrawn by newglyph’s head of type design, Ian Party.

Antarctica from newglyph has been designated as corporate typeface for ephemera and in-house bulletins.
