Herkules

Issued by Haas in 1899. Società Augusta had the same design as Ausonia, Slévárna as Komenius, Trennert as Prometheus (cont. by Weber), Böttger as Teutonia (before 1907, also by Berling), and Gans as Vulcano (with added outline style, Vulcano contorno) [Reichardt 2011].

Revived by Letraset for dry transfer lettering and by Berthold Fototype for phototypesetting [Berthold 1974].

Digitizations include Huk (Castcraft, 1990–94, used for the sample), an unsatisfying freebie by Dieter Steffmann (2004), and Excalibur Nouveau (Typo-Graf, 2015).

Not to be confused with Berthold’s Herkules (digital as Karolla Black).
