Initialisms/monograms

Initialisms are abbreviations that are formed from the initial letters of other words and pronounced one letter at a time, like HTML or IBM (unlike acronyms). Monograms denote the graphic representation of an initialism, especially when used for personal names like JFK or YSL. See also initials for decorated or otherwise distinguished first letters.
