Another instance (see also here) of Katherine McCoy’s taste for mixing Futura with ITC Franklin Gothic in her work from the late 1980s. Such an unlikely pairing was perhaps inspired by vernacular graphic design practice, where this kind of “ad hoc” approach to typeface selection is quite common, and whose influence was an integral part of the “Cranbrook design discourse” at the time.
