Fats Domino – “Let The Four Winds Blow” / “Jambalaya (On The Bayou)”

According to record collector Klaus Hiltscher, this single was released in the Netherlands in 1965. (It was also released in Spain in 1968 [Discogs]). A rather brutal design that simply slams down the reversed lowercase letters onto the halftone potrait, in one big size and left-aligned lines, regardless of the clashing descender in ‘four’, with an underline that doesn’t really match the chubby style of the letterforms.

The main typeface is Dave West’s Cooper Nouveau Swash 10, made for Photo-Lettering, Inc. sometime in the 1960s. House Industries, who hold the PLINC assets, state that the face was drawn in 1966, so maybe the 1965 date is off.

The lighter weight (shown in the sample) of Cooper Nouveau was digitized by Dave Foster in 2015. Letraset’s Lazybones (1972) is a close follower of the bold style.
