During the 1963–64 school year, Coke ran ads from this stream-of-concious campaign in each issue of the Agnes Scott News, the paper of an Atlanta area women’s college. I don’t know if it was a national campaign, but it was certainly targeted at college students. Agnes Scott College was not far from the Atlanta-based company.
The ads are set entirely in Franklin Gothic, using either regular or Condensed widths. My guess is that the “Things go better with Coke” tagline (which preceded “It’s the real thing”) is hand lettered, but it may be based on a phototype face that I don’t know. “Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling Co.” is probably Alternate Gothic No. 1.
