Shown in Lettergraphics’ 1968 catalog in eleven styles, spanning
three weights and three widths with outline variants. Used for the
Lettergraphics logo and already shown in a 1966 ad in
Print magazine. Probably named after (and designed
by?) the company’s founder, W. Paul Bailey. Lowercase only, with
alternates for ‘agst’ (the alt ‘g’ has the shape of a ‘G’).
Quadrant Caps is an all-caps/biform style that matches
Bailey Light. A 1969 catalog suggests California Caps as a match for Bailey
Bold.
Very similar to Pacella Graphic Biform (Photo-Lettering, in
or before 1965), but with fewer alternates.
All eleven styles are shown in Castcraft’s
Encyclopedia (1978) as “Buckley (similar to Bailey)”,

Shown in Lettergraphics’ 1968 catalog in eleven styles, spanning three weights and three widths with outline variants. Used for the Lettergraphics logo and already shown in a 1966 ad in Print magazine. Probably named after (and designed by?) the company’s founder, W. Paul Bailey. Lowercase only, with alternates for ‘agst’ (the alt ‘g’ has the shape of a ‘G’). Quadrant Caps is an all-caps/biform style that matches Bailey Light. A 1969 catalog suggests California Caps as a match for Bailey Bold.
Very similar to Pacella Graphic Biform (Photo-Lettering, in or before 1965), but with fewer alternates.
All eleven styles are shown in Castcraft’s Encyclopedia (1978) as “Buckley (similar to Bailey)”, largely with the same alternates. Buckley No. 1 and No. 6 add an uppercase with some of the shapes from Quadrant Caps and California Caps, respectively. One style (equivalent to Bailey Bold Extended) was digitized as OPTI Buckley No. 8 and is used for the sample.
Castcraft’s catalog also has a face named Juniper. It appears to be a copy of Bailey Bold/Bold Condensed, with an added uppercase that’s similar to California Caps, but narrower and with biform alternates for most letters. Those are like the lowercase, but taller. Furthermore, there is Micah, apparently a copy of Bailey Light and Quadrant Caps, with minor differences (e.g. dotted ‘I’, short tail on ‘J’) and just one form for ‘z’.
