Designed in 1970 by Phil Martin for his Alphabet Innovations phototype library. Formatt has a copy as Diane Jeanine [Formatt 1974] with alternates for lowercase ‘l’ and exclamation mark. A c. 1980 Fürst catalog shows three styles, Jolly Martin (a knockoff, see interview; solid), Jolly Roger Bleached (outlined), and Jolly Roger Raised (solid w/ outlined shadow).
