Seawitch is a novel written by Scottish author Alistair MacLean (1922–1987), set on an offshore oil rig. First published in the United Kingdom by Collins in 1977, it was translated to the German by Georgette Skalecki and published by Lichtenberg in 1978. This is an Austrian edition by Neuer Kaiser Verlag from the same year.

For the jacket design, Volkmar Reiter worked with a photograph by Artreference, Frankfurt, and Cortez (Letraset, 1977). Like other users, he wasn’t convinced by the typeface’s original i dot, and doubled the triangle to make a diamond (see also Loretta Trezzo’s circular dot and One Plus One Studio’s rotated triangle). M and h form an interlinear ligature, and the left base serif of x was clipped to facilitate tight letterspacing.
