Saint Neon is the latest short film by Brooklyn-based director and screenwriter P. Carter. It introduces writer-actor Kamil Oshundara in their first leading role.

A young time jumper in 2081 post-apocalyptic Brooklyn seeks to reunite with their lost loved ones on the astral plane.

The 24-minute science fiction adventure drama was inspired by P. Carter’s own experience of finding joy in loss, mythological tales of time travel, dimension hopping and the ancient African belief that death may not be the end.

Saint Neon was co-produced by 160BPM, the film collective founded by P. Carter, and Wombat Films in France. It premiered at the Bushwick Film Festival.

Elena Germain of Paris-based studio ENFEU designed the poster for the movie. She used Origin Super Condensed by Production Type, to show the title as big as the format allows.

Origin Super Condensed started as a commission by retailer Carrefour and addressed France’s legal requirement that a food’s geographical origin must be at least the same point size as its price. Initially all-caps, the extra narrow design was later expanded to feature a lowercase and five weights in upright and backslanted styles. Germain used the Black weight and filled the tall letterforms with a texture reminiscient of traces that were made visible under ultraviolet light. The credits also use Origin Super Condensed, in a lighter weight, and also in all caps.
