The Guerrilla Girls are a feminist activist collective that from 1985 has, amidst other actions, produced numerous posters uncovering the gender and racial inequailities in the art world and beyond.

Their posters have appeared on the walls and billboards of New York City and have been exhibited in museums and art institutions (such as the Biennale di Venezia) throughout the world.

The typographic choices of them are quite uniform. In many cases, they feature bold, sans serif fonts as for example Futura Extra Bold Condensed creating, thus a consistent œuvre, namely works instantly recognizable as made by the Guerilla Girls. The ubiquity of Futura in advertising made it the perfect choice for the subvertising techniques employed by the Guerrilla Girls.
