Dawn FM is the new album by Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd, released on January 7, 2022 by XO and Republic Records.
Robert Beatty did the artwork for the various collector’s editions as well as the accompanying single releases, and also provided the initial type treatments. The layouts were subsequently done in-house by the XO team.
The album title is shown as a combination of Klarissa – a freebie digitization of Titania (before 1906) – in three-dimensional lowercase letters, tightly spaced; and “FM” in caps from Shatter, embellished with a contour and airbrush-like chrome and highlight effects. The third font in use in Simplement, another freebie digitization, this time of a face called Cut-In, which like Shatter was originally issued by Letraset in 1973. It’s occasionally used for the artist’s name and additional titles, in all lowercase, on the records as well as on merch.
