Permanent Destruction is a melodramatic energy concert by actor and director Naomi Velissariou and sound producer Joost Maaskant. A sexy show about self-hate and unrequited love, containing deadly poetic lyrics and a heavily distorted sound system. With genres varying from RnB to industrial hardcore and with prevalent use of auto tune and trap hop references.
Naomi Velissariou was inspired by Sarah Kane (1971–1999). One of the most compelling and fearless playwrights of the past decades, Kane’s plays echoed her mental state. The merciless lyrics, beats and bass lines are set against a video backdrop by Frederik Heymans that adds a monumental visual dimension to the piece.—Naomi Velissariou
