Designed by Roger Excoffon and issued by Olive as Diane in 1956. The caps are so elaborately decorated with swirly strokes that the metal sorts were labeled with plain letters to avoid confusion. Later, perhaps in the mid-1960s, they were complemented with a simpler design [GroupType/MyFonts]. A specimen from 1974 shows both sets of caps. An undated specimen by Olive shows a second bold weight which eventually wasn’t released. [Kennett]
Revived by Jason Walcott as Debonair JF (Jukebox Type/JAW Fonts, 2000, simpler caps), by Thierry Puyfoulhoux as Diana & Princess (Présence Typo, 2004, both sets of caps), and by Mark Simonson as Diane Script (GroupType, 2008, both sets of caps).
