Centre Georges Pompidou CGP or Alphabet Centre Pompidou is a custom typeface designed by Adrian Frutiger together with Hans-Jürg Hunziker in 1974–1976 for the exclusive use by the Centre Pompidou. Commissioned by Jean Widmer who designed the visual identity together with Ernst Hiestand. Based on the typewriter face Fine Line (IBM), but proportionally spaced, slightly bolder, narrower, with shorter serifs, as well as other modifications. Working title was Beaubourg. Produced for dry transfer lettering (Mecanorma), die cutting, phototypesetting (Linotype), and digital typesetting (André Baldinger). [Osterer & Stamm] Unlike the sample suggests, there is also a lowercase.
