“Caslon Openface was originated by BB&S in 1915, where it was first called College Oldstyle. It started out as a reproduction of a delicate 18th century French typeface known as Le Moreau le Jeune, by the foundry of G. Peignot & Son, but in the American version some strokes are heavier.” [McGrew 1993] “BB&S admitted to taking a liberty when they put it in the Caslon category” — Adobe/MyFonts
Bitstream’s digitization is spelled Caslon Openface. It is slightly heavier than Linotype’s and Image Club’s Caslon Old Face and quite different in some details.
