Recorded in Los Angeles in 1965 and originally released as Something Blue on Verve Folkways label in 1967, this is the cover of a reissue on the French Swing label, released in 1974 in their Jazz Story series.

The album cover brings together two very different designs that both originated at the Nebiolo foundry in Turin, Italy: Normandia is a reinterpretation of the 19th-century Fat Face, made by Alessandro Butti together with the young Aldo Novarese in the late 1940s. Eurostile – here the neretta larga, or Light Extended – is a (then) cutting-edge sans serif. Novarese’s magnum opus was made in the early 1960s as a continuation of Butti’s Microgramma from 1952.
