The exhibition Everyone Is RPG features comic book-style illustration by Jin Lio that delves into the various manifestations of human good and evil. The main visual design uses a variety of paper tearing effects and a large number of pixelated visual elements, as well as contrasting colors and printing effects, to set off the instability of human beings in their various extremes of character.
Everyone Is RPG means that each person plays a different role, each identity is mixed with different positive and negative personalities, and this instability and unpredictability is worth exploring and pondering.
The exhibition, commissioned by the Macau Illustrators Association, is an explosive mix of illustrations by Jin Lio and typography under the art direction of Dan Ferreira and Leong Kun Lam of the Macau-based Indego Design studio. The visual identity includes several different typefaces such as Brass by Fantasia Type – in different styles –; Capitalus Diabolus, Graham Meade’s interpretation of Pluto; Base&Bloom by NaumType; and a Chinese font, creating an extraordinarily strong and gritty visual atmosphere.
The project was recently awarded the D&AD Wood Pencil, for the category Graphic Design – Applied Print Graphics.
