The body text inside Charles Murray’s 2003 book Human Accomplishment is set in Bembo (not shown here), in black with blue highlights, and as Bembo settings go is less than ideal – scaled small caps, lining figures, uncompensated white book-weight text inside solid blue spot color boxes, etcetera.

The jacket is more interesting. Designer Roberto de Vicq de Cumptich made use of David Berlow’s Throhand, which I’ve rarely seen outside of Rolling Stone magazine. Throhand comes in three optical grades: Pen for the largest sizes with the most delicate hairlines, regular for the typical display uses, and Ink for smaller sizes. Everything on this cover appears to be the middle grade.
