Theremix: Virtual Theremin on iPad next to mini theremin.

Invented in 1920 by Léon Theremin, the theremin is an electronic instrument that is played without physical contact by the performer. The theremin creates its signature ethereal tones with a performer’s proximity to its two antennas.

Theremix is a progressive web app that celebrates the 100th anniversary of the theremin by bringing the instrument into a virtual space. The virtual theremin can be controlled either with mouse/touch inputs or with gestures through a webcam via human pose tracking provided by PoseNet.

The Theremix wordmark is set in Whirly Birdie Bold Extended, with its second half outlined as a homage to the wide logos found in electronic synthesizers. The cursor and various iconography use Whirlybats. Smaller text is served by Nay Aug, a typeface in progress.
