Up Tight (1968) movie poster

Poster design for the film drama Up Tight from 1968. The film is a remake of John Ford’s The Informer (1935), but updated for the 1960s and set in Cleveland in the days after Martin Luther King’s funeral.

While the majority of the design is clearly hand lettering, the film title and credits at the bottom feature a stylistically appropriate, tightly spaced use of Futura. This tight sense of space has been further exaggerated by the removal of the dot over the i and the left part of the crossbar of the t.
