The Archer is Alexandra Savior’s second album, released in January 2020 on Danger Mouse’s 30th Century Records. Dana Trippe is credited for the photography. I don’t know who did the typography, but the choice of Roslindale is spot on. The heavy blur (or glow) effect dials up its nostalgic side, and makes it an excellent match for Savior’s dreampop. Watch the videos for the title track and “Saving Grace” on YouTube. Roslindale is supported by Albertus for the song titles on the back cover. The same combination was used for a tour poster.

  1. The glow effect is so neat! It actually made me question that this is a modern design. Do you know what kind of reproduction process the effect is emulating?

I’m curious if the extra space after the third hyphen in the poster constitutes a typo, or a deliberate mistake.

  2. I have no idea if that was the intended reference, but for me, the glow effect has a low-fi cinematic quality, think of a slipshod projection in a 1980s B-movie theater. The grainy photography adds to that.

The poster is just sloppily typeset. There’s also inconsistent spacing around the dates and a straight apostrophe. The all-caps setting could have used some more balanced spacing, too.
