“The J.R.R. Tolkien Calendar 1974” was published by George Allen & Unwin, London in 1973. It contains 12 colour plates with illustrations from The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy by Professor Tolkien and Pauline Baynes, bigger than they appear in the books. The front cover pairs Letraset’s Desdemona Solid with a portrait (taken by Billett Potter) of Tolkien sitting against a tree.
