Safwat is inspired by the sign of a Cairo shoe shop with the same name. One of six “Downtown Fonts” that were the result of a preservation project titled Khotout West elBalad, carried out by advertising agency J. Walter Thompson Cairo for real estate development company Al Ismaelia. A Beta version of the font was available from the project website.
