restrained styling has been added.” [PLINC 1960] Probably also by Harold Horman, but that is unconfirmed. Started
before 1960 with Lenox Hill and Lenox Hill
Condensed, each in six weights, plus one Contour variant and
two Open styles with two weights of outline [PLINC 1960]. With #1297, the Cond 9 (used
for sample) has the lowest catalog number of the series, suggesting
a date in the early 1950s.
By 1971 the series had grown to eight subfamilies;
Lenox Hill Triple Cond (1 weight), Lenox Hill Ex Cond (12
weights plus open and shaded styles), Lenox Hill Cond
(13 weights plus obliques and contoured styles), Lenox
Hill (10 weights plus open and contoured styles),
Lenox Hill Wide (8 weights plus italics, open and
