Bilingual sign for the Ethnographic Museum in Split, Croatia, pairing two typefaces by Hermann Zapf: Melior for Croatian, and Optima for English. From Flickr user Morton1905:

The ethnographic museum of Split is housed in a building that itself already is of exceptional cultural and historical architectural significance.

Fancy yourself walking trough a room dating from the 4th century. The actual former bedroom of the Emperor Diocletian himself? The most intimate part of the Palace? Yes? I thought so…

Located next to the Peristyle – the central square of the Palace – the museum presents an extremely valuable ethnographic collection portraying the old ways of life in Split, the islanders and farmers of the Dalmatian hinterland and more.

The museum’s permanent collection displays regional costumes, jewelery, pottery, knitting, and other various handmade artifacts.
