The Walrus is a Canadian general interest magazine which publishes long-form journalism on Canadian and international affairs, along with fiction and poetry by Canadian writers.
For their 2018 Summer Issue they added the locally-designed typeface Wigrum to their type palette, already composed of GT Sectra for main titles, Lyon for body text and an unidentified sans serif for some captions. Wigrum is used throughout the magazine, from page numbers (with oldstyle figures) to titles, pull quotes and drop caps. Its distinctive default uppercase W suits very well with the name of the publication!
The bespoke lettering for “The Walrus” on the cover has been designed by ZeCraft under the direction of art director Brian Morgan and is used since 2008.
