In France, it is a legal requirement that a food’s geographical origin must be the same point size as its price. Carrefour, a major retail group, commissioned Jean-Baptiste Levée to come up with a solution. The result is Origin Super Condensed. The extra narrow design was later expanded with a lowercase influenced by mid-20th-century and released for general licensing. [Production Type]

The word “Origine” itself seems to be in Salsbury, “an abstraction/parody of Dom Casual and Flash” by Ray Larabie (Typodermic, 2006).

Reality ruins everything: On this price tag for chanterelles, the price is actually a lot smaller than the geographical origin. And it’s in Arial.
