I grew up with the logo above, frequently paired with the slogan: “Pork. The Other White Meat.” The sharpness of Delphin offered a dynamic contrast to the smooth silhouette. It’s a pork chop — without being completely literal about it.
It is not clear who designed the logo. The “Other White Meat” campaign was developed by Campbell Mithun, while the advertising was developed by Bozell, Jacobs, Kenyon & Eckhardt, (who was also responsible for the milk moustache subcampaign that went with “Got Milk”).
The campaign had a long run: from 1987 to 2005. It was about that time that the industry group switched to a new Pork logo using Gill Sans. It doesn’t quite have the same effect, does it?

I always confuse this with York.
