For its 35th anniversary in 2024, the Stockholm International Film Festival introduced a unique visual identity under the theme “35 Years, 35 mm,” paying tribute to the festival’s history and the evolution of film technology. Stockholm-based design agency 25AH created an identity blending vibrant, organic textures with sharp, precise digital elements, reflecting the fusion of analog aesthetics with the modern world of film. This contemporary approach enhanced the festival’s visibility across various communication platforms while staying true to its heritage.
At the heart of this visual identity was the use of Blaze Type’s Osmose typeface. Osmose, with its neoclassical influences and geometric features, was selected for its elegance and versatility. The typeface brings together modernity and tradition, resonating with the festival’s theme. Its smooth curves and wider letterforms help create a dynamic flow in the textual compositions while ensuring optimal readability across the festival’s communication materials.
The visual identity perfectly embodies the essence of the festival: a fusion of innovation and respect for cinematic history. See also the previous post about the 2023 edition.
