Sci Fi O Rama:

These powerful, minimal designs with a fauvist-esque palette are a small selection of the art of Eyke Volkmer a German graphic artist and illustrator. During the 1960s and 1970s, Eyke worked closely with publishing house Wilhelm Goldmann, and during this period produced a total of 162 airbrushed covers for the SF series “Goldmanns Weltraum Taschenbücher” and another seventy covers for the series “Goldmanns Zukunftsromane”, his publisher once remarked to Volkmer: “It doesn’t look like that in outer space” but encouraged him to follow and develop his unique and prolific style.

All of the covers designed by Volkmer are archived in this brilliant web archive.

  1. Thank you so much for featuring the art of Eyke Volkmer on your site!

May I add that all of his 241 SF covers (the 4 colour paperback series and the 2 colour hardcover series) will be exhibited in Ulm, Germany, from September 20th until the end of November 2014?

Here is a link to the venue: stadthaus.ulm.de/stadthaus/…
