notadesign designed a series of books for Galerie Jocelyn Wolff, featuring the writing practices of seven artists. These seven pocket-sized books take inspiration from the concept of “the inseparability of writing and painting,” exploring the dual nature of expressive tools.
In this design, we deliberately restrained the designer’s impulse to “draw something” and instead relied solely on color for editing and typography for design. Within the diverse texts, we engaged in subtle typographic play while keeping the bookbinding structure simple. We minimized the variety of paper types, striving to create an art book that closely resembles a “book” in its purest form.
