The Hill Art Foundation is a public exhibition and education space located in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood. Founded by J. Tomilson and Janine Hill, it opened to the public in February 2019. J. Tomilson and Janine Hill are renowned art collectors known for their extensive and valuable collection. They have been collecting art for over three decades, focusing on four major categories: Renaissance and Baroque bronzes, Old Master paintings, Post-War figurative Modern Masters, and emerging contemporary artists.

The design, crafted by Naomi Abel, starts with a simple but striking idea: the Hill name rendered as an elegant orthogonal line pattern. This motif sets the tone for a sophisticated yet understated visual language, anchored by the Cambon typeface. With its crisp serifs and sturdy proportions, Cambon projects a sense of authority without pretension, making it a perfect choice for headers and key elements.

The typographic system is extended further in the foundation’s publications, where Cambon is paired with the versatile General Grotesque. This sans serif balances Cambon’s classical structure with a modern clarity that feels equally at home in exhibition catalogs or educational materials. The result is a typographic dialogue: old and new, tradition and innovation—echoing the foundation’s curatorial ethos.
