Off Cuts booklet
In September 2023, Heim+Viladrich, a design studio founded in 2022 by Lauriane Heim and Johan Viladrich, envisioned the signage and the booklet for an installation titled Off Cuts at Boutique Nou in Montpellier, France. Their approach stands out for its thorough analysis of contexts and meticulous research, focusing on both the use of local materials and the mastery of techniques. The duo chose the Armag typeface, designed by Blaze Type, to infuse a contemporary and bold graphic dimension into this project. The secondary typeface is Nimbus Sans, URW’s version of Helvetica.
The booklet, produced on Olin Grey paper (180×210 mm) with a black and white print, as well as on Trophée Grey paper (180x245 mm) in monochrome black, reflects their harmonious vision that combines simplicity and sophistication. Heim+Viladrich, working at the intersection of space design, publications, and design objects, place great importance on production processes. This project was printed by AGL Imprimeur, located in Lattes, Occitanie, reinforcing the artisanal and controlled aspect of their approach.
The work of Heim+Viladrich embodies an economy of gesture, where every material and technique is carefully chosen to create coherent and elegant pieces. By oscillating between commercial and self-initiated projects, they are able to explore the unique potential of each project while developing a visual language that is both rigorous and innovative.
