This convenience and souvenir store in Matrei in Osttirol, Austria, was likely named after its location in the Remlerstraße – or was it named after shop owner Anton Remler? A prime example of local business: when the street, store and owner share the same name. To top it off, a lettering company appropriately chose a font named after one of the store’s offerings: ITC Souvenir. (Lotto, Papyrus or Tabac would have been nice choices too).
I found a hotel just around the corner with similar plastering, and with a similar understated choice of colors, set in Brush Script and signed by local firm “Fa. Amoser”. This painting firm, led by Erich Amoser, probably handled most local signage at the time, including Remler’s shopfront.
