SHIFT exhibition by Shinnosuke Oshiro
The exhibition SHIFT organized by ZHdK at Zurich’s Toni-Areal presents the photographs of Shinnosuke Oshiro in various forms. These include framed images, sound and video. The photographs have been printed in different formats or on different types of paper. Some were realised through exposure or riso printing. This resulted in a transformation of the original photographs. The installation of the images focused on the proportions of the prints as well as the thematic and aesthetic affiliation of the images in several groups. An interplay between order and spontaneity was introduced, which corresponds to Shinnosuke Oshiro’s approach. The final selection for the exhibition was made up of 686 photographs and 34 videos.
Works by Semaya Mehret and Bianca Blair complement the exhibition. Curators Nadine Wetzel and Mario Naegele made early use of Melange Grotesk Regular. It’s paired with STHeiti SC for the Japanese text.
