In 1949, the LEGO Group released their first brick building toy set. Though the product was still only being sold in Denmark, the company used the English name of Automatic Binding Bricks. This system, heavily influenced by the Kiddicraft brick system, would be the precursor to the popular building bricks still sold and loved today. LEGO would be one of the first children’s toys to be made with molded plastic as opposed to traditional materials like wood or metal.
