From Genius:
Japan Best is Mariah Carey’s 4th compilation album and her 4th greatest hits album. This collection is unique, as it is a lineup of hits for the Japanese market.
Japan has always loved Mariah. Her releases are some of the best-selling albums over there. Mariah’s 1998 compilation album #1’s remains the best-selling release of all time by a foreign act in Japan.
The typography uses both the Medium and Light style of Largo. In contrast to the former, the latter features no top serif on the A.

For no particular reason last night I was browsing through Mariah Carey’s discography and thought to myself “I wonder if any of her stuff is on Fonts in Use”. I went and checked. She didn’t. I wake up the next morning, see this on the front page, and laugh my ass off.
This is not Largo, but Friz Quadratta a bit deformed maybe, known this for years
Nah, it’s just like Javi writes: Largo Medium (or halbfett) with faux small caps for “Mariah Carey”, and Largo Light (or mager) for “Japan Best”. You can compare against the original foundry typeface and the digital version.
Well, turns out you’re right.
I never payed such close attention, Wikipedia’s entry for Friz Quadrata mentions her, (as I remembered) but they’re also right, she has Friz on her album Memoirs, I haven’t checked every single album/single.
The designer of that album probably thought that was the typeface as it is more widespread, now I know there’s some inconsistency on official art.
That is Largo in Medium and Light Style
