“The Print Shop is a desktop publishing program which allows for the use of clip art and templates to make signs, cards, letterheads, and banners. It eventually became one of the most popular Apple II titles of all time.” — 8-bit riot
The program offered eight built-in fonts, mostly crewd bitmaps of existing typefaces:
- RSVP (Gillies Gothic)
- Alexia, a frilly Victorian-era number (Appeal DT is a close approximation)
- News (loosely based on Times New Roman)
- Tech (Data 70)
- Party (Davida)
- Block (reversed-stress wood poster type, possibly Playbill)
- Typewriter (possibly ITC American Typewriter)
- Stencil (Futura Black).
The Internet Archive’s Historical Software Collection offers an emulator of The Print Shop that you can run right in the browser.

Block is Playbill. The C, G, Q among others share identical features – especially the tail of the Q.

This wasn’t the only instance of a Broderbund Print Shop; more typefaces would be added, and many of them would have a lowercase.
