Hi Javi,
I didn’t find a match for the bold italic face used for the title. It’s similar to the italics of Modern No. 20 (or De Vinne). The face in question is bolder, though, and crucially has no middle serif on W. I suspect it’s a phototypeface.
I looked through a couple of phototype catalogs and didn’t find a match. So did Stephen, who writes:
I’ve removed the “unidentified type” label and added the “lettering” tag.
What if you add a new label called “custom typeface”
We do have a tag for custom typefaces. This is for uses that feature typefaces that were originally designed for a specific purpose, and typically are exclusive to the client, at least initially. This doesn’t apply here.
We do have the “unidentified typeface” tag for uses of typefaces that haven’t been identified yet. I see that you re-added it here – fine. I don’t know whether it’s lettering or an obscure typeface. It can very well be the latter; it’s just that I can’t identify it. Please let us know once you found out the name of the typeface.
Javi tracked it down: it looks like it’s Regency as shown by the Headliners in a 1962 specimen. Added!
