Otra Navidad en las Trincheras is an album from the Uruguayan rock band El Cuarteto de Nos, released on May 5th, 1994. The cover features a dark green background with a yellowed photo of the band members, both top text and bottom text are set in Copperplate Gothic. The yellowed photo was taken in the house of Roberto’s and Riki’s parents. Riki is on the site because it was him who took the photo, using a camera on a tripod. After setting the timer, he ran to be in the photo.
Fun facts:
Otra Navidad en las Trincheras is the second best-selling album in Uruguay, reaching almost 20,000 copies.
The album title is taken from a phrase in Home Alone 2, “another Christmas in the trenches”, which makes sense if you have watched the movie.
All the drums on this album are “false”, except for some cymbals. The idea was to emulate the percussion instead of recording any drums.
Bassist and cover designer Santiago Tavella hated the album cover. He said that it was horrible, when he literally was in charge of its design.
In 1994, the band consisted of four members. In the order of the photo, these are: bassist Santiago Tavella, guitarist and main vocalist Roberto Musso, drummer Alvaro Pintos, and lead guitarist Riki Musso.
