Signals: How Video Transformed the World examines artists’ perspectives on video and its impact on society from the 1960s to the present. The idea of networks, broadcast television, and late-twentieth century digital aesthetics inspired the identity and design of the entrance.
The title is elevated above head-height and wraps the entire space to create the feeling of being enveloped, and the iridescent vinyl brings it to life with a subtly shifting array of color. The typography evokes the time period without being overly nostalgic or retro. At the exit of the exhibition, an oversize reproduction from the cover of Videofreex Spaghetti City Video Manual brings a sense of warmth and playfulness to the video platform.
