Christmas Follies is the third album by the Salsoul Orchestra, comprised predominantly of Christmas songs.

The title of the album uses a version of Bookman distinguished by wonkily-swashed letter forms: Bookman Meola. The track listing is comparatively restrained, though – it’s a standard version of Bookman.

No designer is credited. The photograph is by Joel Brodsky.

10 Comments on “The Salsoul Orchestra – Christmas Follies album art”

  1. This album from 1970 (which I believe is the 1st use) used Bookman Meola

  2. According to Discogs, this single (not album) was released in 1971. I don’t know when and where Bookman Meola originated. It was advertised by Berthold in 1970. So this sleeve could be an early use of it, but it’s hardly the first ever.

  3. Okay. But what has this to do with Bryson’s post about Bookman Meola in use for a Christmas album by The Salsoul Orchestra?

  4. I know it’s not related

  5. Bookman Meola was used in the 1975 album Music for Voice and Guitar by Julian Bream.

  6. Will you prepare a contribution about this album?
