This album by Ethiopian jazz keyboardist Hailu Mergia was designed by Daniel Kent assisted by Callum Abbott and Mei Lenehan. It is the recording of the live concert by Mergia and his band at Pioneer Works on 1 July 2016. The project was made in collaboration with the Awesome Tapes From Africa label.

  1. Eliott, is this M included in Herbus Bold as an alternate? Or is it a modification by the cover designer?

    The album title is neither a perfect match for Letraset’s Carlton nor for Yuanchen Jiang’s Antiqua Roman, which are both interpretations of Ehmcke-Antiqua. It’s either customized, or a different version that I’m not aware of.

    no this M in not included, that’s a custom part by the designers. Seems to be M from Marvin font no ?
    And I don’t know yet about the album title, I tought it was Antiqua, I’ll keep you updated ;) thanks !

  3. Thanks for confirming, Eliott! Marvin’s M is indeed close, and possibly the model. It’s a tad wider than the glyph used here. Likely custom drawn.
