The U.S. movie poster for Werner Herzog’s Aguirre, the Wrath of God was printed in two colors, red and black – compare to the German full-color version using the same photograph.
The title typeface is Dynamo. Originally issued by German foundry Ludwig & Mayer in 1930, the bold geometric semi-slab was revived in a slightly revised form by Letraset in the 1970s.
The New Yorker Films credit is set in Optima Bold. Jonathan Cott’s praise for the Rolling Stone uses Helvetica schmalfett and schmalhalbfett.
