Riding apparel brand Rapha, “made by cyclists, for cyclists”, has created a YouTube channel dedicated to cycling. In Queens of the Classic, Rapha Films follows Zoe Bäckstedt on her journey to a race won by her father Magnus Bäckstedt in 2004, and document Alison Jackson’s coronation as Roubaix royalty.
The video’s graphics feature a bold use of Monaako, which deploys all its characteristics to dialogue harmoniously with the context: circular forms, sharp endings and dynamic structure, which go so well with mechanic sports.
Monaako Script is available in a unique Bold weight, designed specifically for this type of use: transforming a word into a striking image; isn’t that the definition for a good logo?
Here Monaako is paired with one of the brand’s corporate fonts, Rapha Sans Condensed. Rapha also has a serif font, Rapha Serif Text, which is used on the website. For these numerous films, Rapha Films has introduced a number of display typefaces.
