Design of the catalog accompanying the exhibition The Lives of Paintings presented at the Stefan Gierowski Foundation in Warsaw (Poland), which includes photographic documentation of the exhibition, reproductions of paintings and texts.
The exhibition deals with the issue of the disappearing artistic works in Poland.
Visual identification is based on the theme of a painting – a damaged, old, forgotten work of art. In the project, it appears as a levitating, shape-shifting, three-dimensional object that always appears against a neutral gray background. It brings to mind objects, forgotten works of art, which, covered with gray dust, lie in a dark and gray cellar. The object is sometimes replaced by its outline/contour, as a kind of memory of the presence of this work.
The publication has been designed to become an artistic object in its own right – a literal and tangible act of preserving memory and prolonging the life of the images presented at the exhibition.
