Series of posters commissioned by Khruangbin for a show the band played in Houston, also known as “Space City” for becoming home to NASA’s Manned Spacecraft Center in 1967.
The brief was very straightforward: The three members of the band had to be represented somehow in the poster, featuring elements allusive to NASA and New Year’s Eve*. Originally, the task was to make just one poster. However, after seeing the initial round of sketches they suggested turning them into a series, as if they were a sequence of events – “ignition, sequence, start”.
The typefaces in the design, Nasalization and Bernstein Serial Heavy, were chosen using as a reference the two most recognizable NASA logos, while keeping a consistent color palette and the disco ball and circles as recurring elements.
