A typographic cover design for a compilation album released by Decca Records in 1963. Or, more precisely, a design that predominantly features letterforms: “Hootenanny” isn’t typeset, but lettering, with interlocking and hyper-extended glyphs on an animated baseline.
All other text comes in a range of sans serifs: the artists and track names are set in Inserat-Grotesk, stacked and justified, with separating rules in alternating colors and Akzidenz-Grotesk Light for the smaller bits. “All Time Folk Favorites” is in Venus Bold, and “Stereo” in Venus Extended. Finally, the number (DL 74469) and “Printed in U.S.A.” use two weights from Futura.
